The $1MM guarantee Chicago Poker Classic Main Event drew 745 entries — almost twice that of last year’s field — generating a $990,031 prize pool. Per the structure sheet, the event’s 3 percent staffing fee and promotional monies counted toward the guarantee, and thus, the property met its number handily.
The top 72 players earn prize money with a min-cash awarding $2,812. Payouts escalate from there and culminate in a $217,810 first prize. In addition to the six-figure score the winner heads home with a $10,000 WSOP Main Event seat and a shot at its $10,000,000 guaranteed first prize this summer.
Day 1A of the CPC finale drew 364 entries with 59 punching their ticket to Day 2. Day 1B drew a fresh batch of 381 entries and the tournament clock reads 260 remaining with 23 minutes left in Level 8. Play wraps following Level 16 and the Day 2 field will be finalized at that time. Meanwhile, Day 1A chip counts are available a few posts below.
