Event #1 $360 NLH with $500,000 guarantee (three $2,000 CPC Main Event seats added)
Chip leader Alexander Ahmed (pictured), who in 2013 won the CPC’s $350 PLO rebuy tournament, has a 30-big-blind edge over second place Eric Hardt as cards are in the air for Day 2 of Event 1, a $360 NLH tournament, with 115 players remaining. The tournament began Thursday with the first of six starting flights as 2,296 total players turned out for their shot at what would be a $100,000 first prize. Ahemd claims 720,000 chips while Hardt holds 536,000. Others near the top of the counts Michael Hahn (482,000) and Sean Giesbrecht (444,000).

Additional notables among the Day 2 players include Claude Purches II (308,000), Pfizer Jordan (259,000), Zal Irani (239,000) and Eli Loewenthal (190,000). Each of the remaining 115 have locked up $925 with the top three finishers complementing their prize money with a $2,000 CPC Main Event seat courtesy of the Horseshoe.
Cards are in the air now with blinds of 3,000/6,000 and a 500 ante. Day 2 levels will be 40 minutes in length until play reaches the final table. At that time, they’ll jump to 50 minutes. We will touch base with you again as the tournament nears the 10-handed final table.
