The first of two flights for the $2,000 buyin CPC Main Event drew a total of 268 entries. Only 40 players from this flight will be advancing to Day 2 on Sunday at 12 p.m.
James Moran (pictured) finished the day as the chip leader with 515,500. He steadily built his stack the whole day and was the chip leader by the final break with two levels to go. In the last two levels of the night, he extended that chip lead, finishing the night as the overwhelming chip leader of the flight.
Bracelet winner and WSOP Circuit champion Jean Gaspard bagged the third biggest stack with 359,000. WSOP bracelet winners Alex Ziskin (156,500) and Aaron Steury (50,500) also made Day 2. WSOP Circuit Main Event champions Jacob Bazeley (239,500) and Alex Aqel (75,500) are also still in contention, along with WPT champion Keven Stammen (109,500).
Many big names graced us with their presence but did not make it through to Day 2. Bracelet winners Adrian Buckley, Kevin Saul, and Nick Jivkov busted out of Flight A before the end of the day. There were several other very accomplished players who did not make it, including HPT champion and Circuit ring winner Eddie Ochana, HPT champion and ring winner Shiva Dudani, WPT champion and Circuit ring winner Ravi Raghavan, two-time HPT champion Craig Casino, and ring winners Fadi Hamad, Carter Myers, and Eric Rivkin. Also, two-time Circuit ring winner, two-time HPT champion, and MSPT champion Aaron Massey busted out late in the day but did not make it through.
